DALLAS -- Halloween is almost here, y'all! Which got me thinking, what's something we can do with food, with our families, to make the most of one of my favorite holidays?
So here's what I came up with!
First up, one of the classics. Peel the skins off some grapes, throw in some veggie oil and some beet juice or red food coloring, and put out a bowl of bloody human eyeballs. Muahaha.
Or go with a goblin version - olives stuffed with raisins and splashed with some green dye!
How about some witch fingers? There are a bunch of ways to make these... but I like to take some dark heirloom carrots, cut 'em into the right shape, and glue some almonds on there for fingernails, then add a little more of that beet juice. Creepy!
And my personal favorite, a big, creepy, edible brain! Take some thick pasta, cook it for about ten minutes (that's over-cooking!), pour oil in, pack it in a bowl for the shape, with some dye for a nice color, and cool it overnight. Then just cut it in half, and use it as a centerpiece!
