LANCASTER - It’s always a good day when the bank unloads some cash. Each month, Neighborhood Credit Union gives away a chunk of money to its savings account members.
This month, the winner was little skeptical.
“She said, ‘Well you better not sell me anything because I am not going to buy anything.’ I told her that would not be the case," said Carolyn Jordan, a Neighborhood Credit Union spokeswoman.
The credit union says they're trying to encourage customers to save for the future. The more money in your savings, the more chances of winning.
Mary and Carnell Simon say they became savers the hard way. “We really came from nothing," said Mary Simon.
And they know how to save a buck. Mary says, “If you don’t make but two dollars an hour, spend twenty-five cents of that.”
The Simon's say the money will go to rehabbing a bathroom. Yet they still can’t believe they broke the bank. “I still can’t get over this," said Simon.
