ATLANTA — The comedian best known for his “jobless” role as Tommy on the ’90s show “Martin” has died. He was just 52.
Tommy Ford’s family made the difficult decision Wednesday to pull him off life support, just three days after suffering a ruptured aneurysm in his abdomen.
To all family and friends of Tommy Ford. We would like to inform everyone that our brother passed away today October 12, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Please keep his family in your prayers as they go through this challenging time. He was so dearly loved by so many and for that lets all be grateful for a life well served.
According to his Instagram account, Tommy was recovering from knee replacement surgery when he fell unconscious.
Martin Lawrence and several co-stars are paying their respects via social media:
Tommy played Martin’s best friend on the show. He was the butt of several jokes, including the most famous of them all — “Tommy, you ain’t got no job, man!”
But turns out, Tommy really DID have a job. According to Tisha Campbell, he was a counselor at the Boys and Girls Club.
Rest in Peace, Tommy. We’re sure you’ll have them joking and laughing on the other side.
