FAIR PARK – It's that time of year. The State Fair of Texas is in full effect. And so is all the delicious food. We know it can be a little overwhelming, so Newsfix has gotcha covered.
This week we're getting the low down on all things bacon. We've all heard the saying 'everything is better with bacon’, which basically makes it a must at the State Fair. That's why they're dishin' out things like the Pig Poppers – pork sausage wrapped in bacon, with chipotle raspberry sauce topped with jalapenos. And the Bacon Cream Corn, both of which can be found at the Bailey's Deli stand.
"This is a dish that I've made for many years for my family usually around Thanksgiving,” Rose Deschenes of Bailey's told Newsfix. "It's a recipe with whole kernel corn, cream cheese, butter, bacon, Parmesan cheese, a blend of spices."
Chew on This, if you'd rather quench your bacon thirst, there’s the Smoky Bacon Margarita. A lime, smoke infused mix, topped with crunchy bacon bits. This baby is being offered at the Magnolia Beer Garden and was created by Isaac Rousso – the same guy that's responsible for this year's award winning Cookie Fries.
Now if you're still looking for a bacon fix, head on over the Old Mill Inn right across from Big Tex, where they're serving up the Loaded Bacon Mashed Potato Eggroll!
On a stick, in a cup, or as a drink – it's safe to say Texas knows there's no wrong way to do bacon.
