DALLAS -- Brenda Delgado, one of the FBI’s Most Wanted, is back in the Big D. Her bail is set at $1 million.
Delgado was extradited from her home country of Mexico on Thursday. Feds say she fled the country after Dallas PD investigators questioned her about her involvement in the murder-for-hire plot of Dentist Kendra Hatcher.
“Certainly, the police are trying to portray this as she fled the jurisdiction to avoid prosecution," Delgado's attorney George R. Milner told NewsFix. "What she did was gain time for her family to amass the resources it would take to properly defend her once it was known they were going to charger her."
Cops believe Delgado was jealous and out for revenge because Hatcher was dating her ex-boyfriend.
Dr. Hatcher was gunned down in the parking garage of her Uptown Dallas high-rise apartment. The alleged gunman and getaway driver are in custody, both charged with murder.
Under an agreement between the U.S and Mexico, Mexico requires that prosecutors in the States take the death penalty off the table as a condition of extradition. Delgado is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail and will be waiting for her day in court.
“The family was, obviously, very afraid," Milner said. "And they were concerned whether their daughter was going to get a fair trial. That's all they want is -- give us a fair day in court."
