MANHATTAN, KS -- "Welcome to Kansas State University, where breakfast in the morning is some K-State family with a side of racism."
No. That's not the school's motto, but it is one of many recent Tweets from some students. They're taking to social media to express thoughts on an offensive Snapchat. It features two white females appearing to wear blackface with the caption "Feels good to finally be a ni**a." (You can see it here, but be warned the tweet includes the offensive word.)
As you can imagine this Snap story took less than 24 hours to spread across campus and social media with some calling the viral photo a form of blackface.
One of the girls in the picture told Fusion she and a friend wore L'oreal clay face masks when the picture was taken and decided to send the snap as a "joke".
She also claimed that "She's the least racist and most accepting person you will meet."
Well, the school officials aren't laughing at the "joke." In a statement, the vice president called the Snapchat racially offensive. It was later confirmed one girl was no longer enrolled and the other was never associated with the university.
