Usually when a dad is caught rapping in his car in front of his kids, it's a cause of embarrassment. However, Derek Clark took the possibly cringe-worthy moment and turned it into internet gold.
When his son videotaped him rapping, he uploaded it to YouTube thinking fans of his motivational speaking would get a kick out of it. Six months later, the internet found out this dad had a flow, and now, that first video nearly 1.5 million views.
Having grown up in foster care, with his sister and friend killed by the time he was sixteen, Derek took the pain he felt growing up and started writing, fueling his rap career. And although he was never signed, he did record at the same studio as Tupac Shakur early in his career.
