Exclusive: ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ Star John Schneider Devastated Over Studio Flood Damage

BATON ROUGE, La. -- John Schneider, actor best known for his roles as Bo Duke in "The Dukes of Hazzard" and Jonathan Kent on "Smallville," doesn't live the Hollywood life you think he would. While he still acts in and directs feature films and television, he does most of it from outside of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he has set up John Schneider Studios.

Unfortunately when the recent flooding hit Louisiana, his studio -- which includes his home, offices, cars, wardrobe, sound stage, and more -- was not spared.  At its highest, there was nearly 3 feet worth of water inside the 116 year-old home.  Gone are mementos, family heirlooms, equipment, and more.

And while this has hit John hard, he keeps a positive attitude about the entire situation saying, "I've seen video of people's houses where all you could see is the roof."

He could even be considered one of the lucky ones.

Gov. John Bel Edwards said at least 40,000 homes have suffered at least some damage. The US Coast Guard, National Guard, local emergency responders and even neighbors have helped rescue more than 30,000 residents and 1,400 pets and at least 13 people have died across five parishes.

Most amazing, he says, is the response by people in the area.  Even those who have lost their entire homes have come by to help him and others. The spirit and determination he sees in the people of not only Louisiana but those from other states who have come down to help all those in need is, in his own words, "astonishing."
