OAK CLIFF -- Like most people, I've only had crepes a few times in life and all those times, it was a sweet treat. So it was to my surprise that crepes can actually be savory. And that's one of the ways they're serving it up at Whisk Crepes Cafe in Oak Cliff.
Luckly, owner/chef Julien Eelson was gracious enough to let my try one of each during my recent Chew on This shoot. First the savory, made with a buckwheat batter (oh-tay) topped with proscuitto, arugala, and cantaloupe. And sweet, warm apple delight that gave me fall vibes smack dab in the middle of a hot Texas summer.
The verdict: Whisk Crepes Cafe has the perfect selection to satisfy the sweet, the savory everything and in between. And they're doing it all while keeping it nice and light.
But what else would you expect from a French crepe spot?!
