The entire cast of Supergirl hit the stage at San Diego Comic-Con July 23, including its newest cast member, Tyler Hoechlin. The actor will be joining the crew in National City as Kara’s cousin, Clark Kent, a.k.a. Superman.
“Season 1, the show is about Kara. So it confused matters to have Superman there,” says executive producer Sarah Schecter. “But now you guys know her and who she is, and this show is about family and becoming an adult. And now we have Clark to represent the family.”
The budding relationship between James Olson (Mehcad Brooks) and Kara (Melissa Benoist) will prove difficult as Kara tries to figure out exactly who she is.
“It’s going to have its ups and downs,” Brooks says. “She’s still figuring out who she is a woman, and I’m doing the same. So we’ll see.”
We’ll also see what cousin Clark thinks of the relationship as Brooks confirms he and his Metropolis pal will have “some bro time.”
But, most importantly, we now know who’s in the pod: Chris Wood.
Yes, Kai from The Vampire Diaries, and Jake Riley from Containment, is bringing all his handsomeness to Supergirl as an alien of some sort. And perhaps a Kryptonian love interest for Kara?
Season 2 of Supergirl premieres Monday, Oct. 10 on CW33.
