GRAND PRAIRIE, TX — We’re back in the middle of another sweltering Texas summer. Yeah, we’ve finally found our way into the triple-digits here in DFW, with temps around the Metroplex topping out at 101 Saturday. This weather is about as un-Christmas-like as you can imagine.
But just because the summer heat is blazing, doesn’t mean we can’t all spread a little holiday cheer! It was Christmas in July over at the Grand Prairie Farmer’s Market, and 'you know who' was in town even if he ditched his usual bulky red suit.
“Yeah it’s a little warm and we’re doing a little relaxation and they called me in to come say hi to you guys,” said Santa Claus, rocking a Hawaiian shirt.
And the summer seasonal showcase gave some folks a chance to show off the Christmas crafts that they work on all year round!
“I cannot tell you how many I have made,” said Debi O’Farrell, showing off the Christmas themed light bulbs she has created. “I do like six or seven versions of Santa Claus, snowmen. Pretty much anything that someone can give me an idea I will try.”
Of course, it’s also a good reminder that even though Christmas is still 155 days away, Santa is keeping a close eye on all the kiddos on Summer break!
“They’re being good so far,” according to St. Nick. “There’s a couple of them that said they’re going to work on it, but they’re being good now!”
So while we all try to survive yet another sizzling summer just get in front of a fan, throw back a cold drink and dream of that white Christmas in July!
