FORT WORTH--A little heat wasn't enough to keep people from celebrating Juneteenth, the day back in 1865 when Texas slaves learned they were free.

"I think our children need to remember where we came from," Barbara Greene said.

The celebration in Cobb Park drew crowds.

There were plenty of vendors and our CW33 street team even made an appearance.

All in all, a good day to remember how far we've come and how far we have to go.

"We need all of this stuff right now to keep the community together and keep us working together," Cornelius Beatz said.

And that's worth celebrating.
