FORT WORTH -- In celebration of First Responders Appreciation Day, 250 police, firemen, and EMS were awarded VIP treatment. For the first time ever,  First Financial Bank rolled out the royal experience at The DEAN & DELUCA Invitational Golf Tournament held in Fort Worth at The Colonial.

We're talking breakfast, lunch, drinks and a good game of golf!

"It's great to be able to come out here and not only hang out with other people who do the same jobs, but who understand what we go through," Fort Worth Officer James Gray told NewsFix.

But the real MVP was Officer Matt Pearce. Back in March, Pearce was was shot seven times in the line of duty and has been in recovery mode ever since.

"It's good to see him being able to get out and it's nice to watch his road to recovery," added Gray.

Pearce made one of his first appearances since he was released from John Peter Smith hospital earlier this month.

"It's great to see him out and about," Mayor Betsy Price explained. "He just told me, 'My goal is to be back at work by January.'"
