To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) is dead. Be honest, did you possibly think Arrow would end Season 4 with the bad guy killing the entire planet??

The heroes needed a win and got it when Oliver (Stephen Amell) delivered a speech to the looting and rioting-in-fear citizens of Star City, rallying them behind the Green Arrow to take down Darhk and Hive — and it worked. That’s not to say there were no repercussions, though. While Team Arrow saved the day, it may very well be their last mission. Not long after the fight was won, Lance (Paul Blackthorne) announced he was taking Donna (Charlotte Ross) and hitting the road. Then Thea (Willa Holland) revealed she was done with dressing up in leather and fighting crime.

Likewise, Diggle (David Ramsey) revealed he was taking time away from the team — and Star City. Our beloved Diggle has reenlisted in the military and is leaving town for the foreseeable future. It’s the exact inverse of last year when Oliver and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) decided to leave the team to enjoy life.

Now the two, who are still not back together, are all that’s left of Team Arrow.

That’s going to be a bit difficult due to the fact that not only did they beat Darhk, but Oliver got a new job. Seeing as the former mayor — Damien’s wife — was killed, Oliver is the new person for the job. The speech he gave the citizens of Star City to rally them against Darhk was all the interview he needed for the job.

So where does Arrow go from here? The finale really ended with a whimper, rather than a bang. There wasn’t much in the way of setting up a Season 5 villain and things seem largely quiet in Star City.

Of course, those who saw what happened on The Flash have to be wondering if Barry’s decision to travel back in time to save his mother will ripple through to Arrow Season 5.

Regardless, it’s going to be a while before we find out.
