A couple in India are first-time parents at the ages of 72 and 79. Daljinder Kaur gave birth to a healthy baby boy April 19 at the National Fertility Centre in Haryana state, according to The Telegraph. She and her husband Mohinder Singh Gill spent two years with the clinic, which specializes in fertility treatment for women who are way beyond menopause.

Daljinder has no birth certificate and believed herself to be 70-years-old, but doctors told her she was about seven years younger than her husband Mohinder, who is 79. If the ages are correct, she is the world’s oldest mother at 72.

“God heard our prayers. My life feels complete now. I am looking after the baby all by myself, I feel so full of energy. My husband is also very caring and helps me as much as he can,” Daljinder said.

The baby, named Arman Singh, was born April 19 and weighing only 4.4 lbs., but he is now “healthy and hearty.”
