VALLEY RANCH — The NFL Draft is just days away and the Dallas Cowboys will be making pick #4, their highest overall selection since 1991.
And everyone in Cowboys Nation has their opinion on who the Boys should take. Even cornerback Mo Claiborne took to Twitter to lobby for Jalen Ramsey!
But Monday, the crew that will actually make the decision held their annual pre-draft press conference, and perhaps recent suspension to players like Greg Hardy, Randy Gregory and DeMarcus Lawrence, finally have Jerry and crew thinking character first.
“Ability is availability.” said Jerry Jones, “And that does remind you when you have setbacks from suspensions that that’s hitting that equation real good and so yes, it’ll be accounted for as we’re picking our players in this draft.”
And just imagine if Stephen hadn’t made Jerry pass on ol’ Johnny Football!
But overall, the Cowboys know how to work the draft.
Since 2000, 9 of their 14 first rounders have made the Pro Bowl! That’s the best in the NFL, but they weren’t showing their cards today on who they want on Thursday.
“I think it’s best player.” Stephen Jones said, when asked if the team would rather have the best player available or a player that met a specific need, “At the end of the day you only get a chance when you’re drafting this high to pick a player who can make a difference for a long period of time.”
Hey, no matter who gets their name called when Jerry and the Boys are on the clock, the drama is higher than an actual game!
