DAYTON, OH — A pastor in Ohio was shot and killed inside his own church at the end of Sunday services. And now, his brother is behind bars, accused of pulling the trigger.

It happened at St. Peters Missionary Baptist Church in Dayton, WHIO reports. Members say 70-year-old Pastor William Schooler had just finished the final prayer Sunday when he headed to his study. That’s when they say his brother, Daniel Schooler, got up and followed him.

“Then we heard ‘pa pow pa pow pa pow!’ That’s when everybody started running,” a witness explained. “And then I just got everybody out of the church. And we just kept hearing shooting and shooting. Bang, bang, bang.”

Daniel Schooler was taken into custody at the church. He’s expected to be arraigned Monday afternoon on murder charges.

As for a motive, it remains unclear at this time. But relatives say Schooler struggled with mental illness and records show he has a long history of violence dating back to 2001.
