DALLAS, TX -- The countdown to Hollywood’s biggest night is on!

The 88th Annual Academy Awards are Sunday night, and preparations are well underway.

The streets surrounding Dolby Theater are closed off as the red carpet will soon be rolled out for Tinseltown’s talented nominees.

But, you don’t have to be in LA to appreciate the glitz and glamour of Oscar night.

When it comes star power, Big D might as well be called the Hollywood of the south. In fact, there are quite a few Oscar connections right here in North Texas.

Did you know Academy Award winner Kathy Bates went to SMU?

kbThat’s right – the SMU Mustang won the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Misery back in 1991.

And, who can forget Terrell’s claim to fame? Hometown local legend and Oscar winner Jamie Foxx?

Foxx won his Academy Award in 2005 for Best Actor for his portrayal in Ray.foxx

Not to mention, the king of the kitchen, Wolfgang Puck, just so happens to have a spectacular spot perched 560-feet above the Dallas skyline.
