SAN ANTONIO, TX — There was some big movement in the NFL this week, with the owners approving the Rams relocation from St. Louis back to LA. But, all the negotiating and compromising left one team on the outside looking in -- the Oakland Raiders.
Yeah, turns out the Raiders want no part of Oakland anymore, and now that their move to Los Angeles has been denied they’re in need of a new home, and it could be close to home for us.
Yeah, rumor has it that the team could possibly land in San Antonio. Red McCombs, former owner of the Spurs and Minnesota Vikings, may be trying to lure the Raiders to the Alamo City.
Earlier this week, on ESPN Radio in San Antonio, McCombs said he’s spoken with the Raiders owners about possibly setting up shop in SA.
But, the plan immediately has it’s problems: would Jerry Jones ever allow another team into the lone star state to take a bite out of his profits? After all, the Boys used to hold training at the AlamoDome.
Second, would the San Antonio residents welcome another NFL team with open arms? San Antonio is clearly Cowboys Country.
The only commonality? The Raiders' signature silver and black would match the Spurs motif.
So, while it seems unlikely, the Raiders are desperate for a new home, and the NFL might be willing to negotiate after blocking their move to LA.
Hey, the Boys might have a new in-state rival soon.
