DALLAS - He`s probably best known for his radio show called "The Local Ticket" on Sportsradio 1310/96.7 FM The Ticket. But it`s not sports that you`ll hear. It`s  new music, by local artists. And if you want the scoop on the next big act to come out of DFW remember the name Mark Schectman.

"It`s the most fun I`ve had in the radio so far. I've always been a P1, even before I was working on The Ticket, and getting the opportunity to do exactly the show that I want to do and the show that I love on that station is such a huge honor," says Schectman, during a recent drive in Dallas with Newsfix.

"There's just a long history of this specialty-type of programming, which is kind of what it's referred to as in this city."

According to Schectman Dallas is making waves when it comes to the live local music scene. And with venues like Trees, Dada, The Prophet BarHouse of Blues, The Bomb Factory, and The Kessler Theater, it's hard to argue.

You can listen to Mark Sunday nights starting at 8:00. And if that's not enough of a fix (and let's be honest... it probably won't be) you can follow his Twitter account here.
