ARLINGTON, TX — An Arlington woman is jailed, charged with intoxication manslaughter, after investigators say she slammed her car into a utility pole on the 5100 block of S. Collins Street.

The accident killed a five-year-old girl and injured six others.

The single car accident happened Saturday morning, around 9:30. APD says the driver, identified as 25-year-old Valencia Freeman, was driving southbound on Collins St. when she lost control of the wheel.

Investigators say Freeman hit a curb and crashed into the pole. A total of seven people were insider her car; four were children.

A five-year-old girl died at a local hospital; the other passengers were transported to area hospitals and treated for their injuries.

In a statement, Arlington Police noted investigators believe “speed and impairment” contributed to the crash.
