NORTH TEXAS -- They are the men and women who have defined our nation`s history, and protected our country`s legacy.

They`ve witnessed and endured experiences many could never fathom. They are our veterans: the backbone of our nation`s defense and freedom.

November 11th is Veterans Day, a federal holiday dedicated to honor those who gave, and continue to give, so much for our country.

"They can get anything off the menu; there`s a value of up to $15 for each meal," Rambo Saucedo, General Manager of Cantina Laredo told NewsFix.

Cantina Laredo in Addison is one of eight eateries with Dallas-based Consolidated Restaurant Operations that`s honoring vets with a free meal.

"They sacrificed being away from their families, giving to the country and I think it`s extremely important to definitely give back to the veterans," Saucedo said.

There`s even a symbolic 'missing man table' - a visual reminder of the fallen, or those who never came home.

"A lot of the people will go to the table, they`ll take pictures of it. I`ve seen some veterans that have cried," Saucedo explained. "It means a lot to the veterans."

What`s more, themilitarywallet.com has generated a full list of other freebies for vets. Red Lobster is offering an appetizer for gratis; Applebee`s has a free meal on the menu, as does Chili`s.

The Golden Corral is saluting our service members with its 15th Annual Golden Corral Military Appreciation. Dinner`s on the house for anyone who`s ever served in the U.S. military.

That`s not all. Several 7-11`s in DFW are offering free car washes, and hair cuts are at no charge for vets, at participating Great Clips and Sport Clips.

Free services for those whose service should never be forgotten.
