VALLEY RANCH - The Dez watch continues.

The Cowboys injured star receiver may or may not be in the starting lineup Sunday against the New York Giants. If head coach Jason Garrett knows the answer, he’s not letting on.

“I think it’s as simple as is he ready to play physically,” says Garrett. “He is the one that will have the biggest say in it. But we’ll observe him as well.”

Bryant wasn’t on the field for practice Wednesday. He was off doing classified injury rehab.

“I don’t want to get into the specifics of what his rehab is but he’s making progress,” says Garrett.

If Bryant is in the lineup it will be a nice bonus for Matt Cassel, making his first start at quarterback.

“Obviously Dez is a great player and we’d love to have him back but that will be up to the training staff,” says Cassel.

If not, It will be on Cassel and the other receivers to complete the long passes that were missing during Brandon Weeden’s three starts.

“He hasn’t been here long so we need to show him on film that we can consistently get open,” says wide receiver Terrence Williams. “He’s one of those guys where if your can get separation the ball will be there perfect.”
