DALLAS - This season the Longhorns are truly putting the burnt in burnt orange because they`ve been getting cooked on a weekly basis. Texas has lost 4 of their first 5 games, losing by an average of more than 20 points.

Texas is set to take on the 10th ranked Sooners this weekend in the annual Red River Showdown. The Sooners are 17-point favorites in the game this season, it`s enough to make any UT fan sick and that includes the animals.

This season has become a matter of life and death for the Longhorns` mascot Bevo. He won`t be making the trip to Dallas due to an undisclosed life threatening condition. Maybe he`s just naturally scared of being present during a slaughter.

Southwest Airlines hosted its annual Pigskin Plane Pull in which employees compete on behalf of UT and OU to see who can pull an airplane across 50 yards the fastest. The winner? OU of course.

It’s looking like the only victory UT fans will be able to claim this weekend will be of the financial variety. Tickets for this year`s game are more expensive for Sooners fans due to Oklahoma demand. That`s why the same seats on the crimson side will cost 30% more than on the burnt orange side.

So that`s something to hang your Longhorns hat on even though before the game is done that hat may be replaced by a brown paper bag. Good luck, looks like your team is going to need it.
