DALLAS—The Texas State Fair just got started, and it’s already time to ‘can it.’

No..not like that…

“We’re standing here in the CANstruction exhibit,” Karissa Condoianis, Texas State Fair Director of Public Relations said.  “They have teams from Dallas and Fort Worth that come out and build these, what they call can sculptures.”

Corny dogs aren’t the only hot menu item at the State Fair; thousands and thousands of cans are headed to local food banks after the exhibit.

“It was awesome,” Heidi Kline exclaimed.

“Whoever made them, it must’ve taken a while to build it.  It must’ve been kind of frustrating, if you put one can in the wrong place, the entire thing could fall,” Elizabeth Kline added.

“I would think it would’ve taken a really long time to build one of them,” Elliot Kline said.

That’s right!  Much work goes into putting this together.

“We have engineering and architecture firms from both Dallas and Fort Worth who come put these together,” Condoianis explained.  “They’re beautiful to look at. It’s for a great cause.”

From airplanes to Star Wars, bridges to -- wait, is that Pac-Man??

“I’d seen it advertised and I love the idea that art can also help for the food bank and help people that are hungry,” Kerry Watkins said, alongside Gary Hochstatter.  “It’s amazing! The creativity and everything that’s gone into this kind of blew me away. The Reunion Tower one is pretty cool and the Star Wars one that kind of unexpectedly makes noises.”

“I think that’s really amazing,” Elizabeth said.

Sounds like a can-do attitude to us! You can even vote for your favorite.  Like CANstruction’s motto, we guess one 'can' make a difference.
