DALLAS -- It’s that time of the year again and folks are fired up, grabbing their boots, and heading out to the State Fair of Texas.
The Fair kicked off Friday like it always does, with a parade from Downtown to Fair Park.
“We can't wait to go! I'm so excited,” fair fanatic Jodi Taylor said. She couldn't wait to get in.
And of course, you can’t have a State Fair without deep fried EVERYTHING!
“I’ve got to get my annual corny dog no matter what,” said another fair lover.
Christi Erpillo, who runs the Dock Restaurant, invented one of this year's fav foods, "The one thing to try is the deep fried carrot cake roll.”
But for Tammy Stiffler and her husband, the fair goes way deeper than fried food.
“Our early years of dating, going steady together, our actual first date was out here,” Stiffler said
They ended up tying the knot. Three kids and 30 years of marriage later, the Stiffler’s now run a concessions stand, cooking up some good stuff.
“Our new creations this year are our Lone Star Ribeye in a cone and our S'more-flavored beer.”
So, next time you sink your teeth into some food at the fair, remember you might also be tasting a little bit of love.
