GARLAND, TX -- The start of a new school year won't be the same for one Garland family.

Police say 15-year-old Angel Blancas died early Sunday morning, after he was involved in a single-car accident on the 3300 block of West Walnut Street.

Garland PD says Blancas was in a car with two other 14-year-old boys when the vehicle veered off the road and slammed into a utility pole. It isn't clear who was driving.

According to a statement issued by GPD, the accident happened when the driver of the car lost control of the wheel.

Blancas was taken to Plano Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

The other two teens remain hospitalized at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Garland PD says one of teens was critically injured, the other is in stable condition.
