WACO — A former Baylor University football player has been convicted of the October 2013 rape of a fellow student. Sam Ukwuachu now faces up to 20 years in prison.

The jury deliberated less than a day before convicting Ukwuachu; a sentencing hearing is expected to take place today.

The victim eventually left Baylor and transferred to another school.

Waco authorities imposed a gag order on the case, which is why news of the charges only recently emerged.
