DALLAS -- Buzzing around on the rooftop of a Dallas supermarket are thousands of bees. No, not killer bees. We're talking sweet honey bees!

"They're not trying to sting you or attack you. As a matter of fact, they're producing a copious amount of honey right here on the rooftop of Central Market Lovers Lane," Walter Schumacher, aka The Bee Czar, assured us.

Central Market has partnered up with the American Honey Bee Protection Agency, a non-profit that protects and serves the dwindling bee population.

But these aren't just any ordinary bees. These are local bees that have been rescued from homes and businesses around DFW and this rooftop is their sanctuary, a place for them to pollinate freely.

The honey they produce is bottled up and placed on shelves for customers to enjoy. Let’s call it a hyper local honey program.

"It’s something awesome for our customers that no other retailers in Texas are doing. So, we can deliver them honey that's from a 100 feet away from their heads," said Mark Phillips, Business Development Manager at Central Market.

So, why all the buzz? Well, picking up the all-natural honey isn't only good for your taste buds, but good for the environment too!

Hey, it looks like Central Market is the place to "bee" this weekend.

"We're having flank steak with honey from the roof in our chef's case. We have honey cake out of our bakery and we're also doing honey whipped butter with our honey from our rooftop,” said Phillips.

Yum! So get out of your hive this weekend and enjoy some sweet treats!
