TRINITY GROVES – If you're looking for a sweet slice of the deep South, Cake Bar in Trinity Groves is the place you want to go to.

It's where Augusta, Georgia native Tracy German is serving up a piece of what she calls home.

"My mom was a scratch baker,” German said. “And I went to culinary school and I used some of her recipes. She was known for her red velvet cake and the German chocolate.

And now Tracy is spreading the love her mom taught her to Big D, with flavors like strawberry, key lime, coconut, and Italian cream.

Chew on This, Cake Bar is one of the only places in Dallas serving up hummingbird cake, a true southern treat.

“It has pineapples, bananas, cinnamon and toasted pecan,” German said.

While her recipes may be top-secret, anyone can see why Cake Bar is baking over 100 cakes a day and shelling out over 1,000 slices!

But getting to this point was no, well, "cake" walk. Tracy started selling her cakes out of her home seven years ago, but the demand outgrew her location.

Cake Bar doesn't just stop at these three-tiered treats. There's pound cake and quick bread too.

"We offer cookies. We offer bread pudding, banana pudding. Things that you grew up with,” German said.

Sweet!

So, whether it's your birthday or your sweet tooth is fully engaged, Cake Bar is the place to indulge – if you want a piece of home.
