DALLAS, TX — The NFL just sacked Tony Romo! That`s right, the Cowboys QB had flexed his entrepreneurial spirit, organizing the first ever National Fantasy Football Convention in Las Vegas! Over 100 players, including Romo, Dez, Witten and DeMarco Murray were slated to appear.
But now, thanks to the NFL audible, that play was scrapped.
“It is with heavy hearts we announce we will be postponing the first NFFC to July 2016, as we no longer fell confident in delivering our intentions, ambition and opportunities for fans.” said a message left on the NFFC’s voicemail, “This is a direct result of a sudden and unexpected opposition taken by the NFL concerning player participation and their perceived association with gambling for an event in Las Vegas.”
Unexpected opposition is right! Scout.com sources are even saying the NFL was threatening players who showed up with fines and suspension! Talk about unnecessary roughness!
Romo was extremely apologetic to fans on Twitter…
While Dez was... well a little more blunt.
C’mon, let's be real. Is the league really worried about their players hanging out in Sin City or are the NFL top brass just sore because they could've lost a piece of this Fantasy Football pie?
Whatever the reason, no explanation is gonna make fans who already booked their tickets to Vegas for the convention happy.
And it looks like another last minute NFL ruling has screwed-over Tony Romo.
