BOSTON – So, Brady’s been benched. The powers that be slapped Tom Brady with a four-game suspension for his part in the Deflategate drama.
The NFL also took away the Patriots’ first-round pick in 2016 as well as a fourth rounder in 2017. And to make sure nobody thought they were going easy on the team, the NFL handed down a $1 million fine.
Brady’s agent is calling the whole investigation a sting. Whatever you call it, the NFL report revealed Brady probably had knowledge of and involvement in deflating those footballs.
The suspension, if it stands, means Brady will miss the Week 5 match-up against the Cowboys. It would put Tony Romo up against Pats backup QB and fellow Eastern Illinois alumnus Jimmy Garoppolo.
But hold your horses Cowboys Nation, Brady says he’s appealing the ruling, which could reduce the amount of games he’d have to sit out. So, keep your fingers crossed.
There are also reports that longtime pals Roger Goodell and Pats’ owner Robert Kraft now reside in Splitsville. One source says the relationship is “pretty much dead.”
So the wait begins. Will it be Romo vs. Garoppolo or Romo vs. The Deflator?
