PLANO - People were screaming for help at the Park Springs Townhomes Sunday night.  Cops tell us two dogs had attacked six people including a child.

"Some officers recognized the location," Officer Jerry Minton, PIO at Plano PD, explains.

"Description of the dogs. They`ve been familiar with them because we have gone out there previously."

While one dog made it back to the owner's yard, cops chased the second one to nearby Wagon Wheel Park.

"They noticed there was a large group of individuals that were in the park," Minton said. "Families, young kids, and adults. Then they noticed there was a jogger on the jogging trails. The dog started going after the jogger."

The dog apparently decided the cop looked more interesting than the jogger.

"At that point, the dog turned on one of the officers, acting aggressively towards him," Minton said.

"The second officer was able to pull out his taser, but before he could fire the taser off at the dog to try to subdue it, the dog attacked the first officer. That`s when that officer drew his weapon and fired at the animal, killing it."

The other dog didn't fare so well, either.  The owner gave it up to Plano Animal Services.  It'll be put down and tested for rabies.  Cops tell us the owner could face some big fines for not registering the dogs or providing proof of current rabies shots.
