DETMOLD, Germany – Authorities in Germany say they’ve arrested a 93-year-old man decades after he served as a Nazi guard. And now, the German justice system is charging him with 170,000 counts of accessory to murder. The defendant’s name has not been released due to privacy laws. German authorities say the man served as an S.S. guard at the death camp Auschwitz. Investigators claim that, from 1942 to 1944, the man helped supervise the section of the camp where most of its victims were killed. More than 1.1 million people, mostly European Jews, were killed there.
