FORT WORTH-Call it a wish come true! Students from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth secretly lined the halls and joined in surprising Banks Graham, their fellow classmate who is battling cancer, with the win of his life.

Make a Wish Foundation surprised Banks with the announcement he was waiting for, a message from Kobe Bryant.

"What's up, Poly High?! I got a message for my man Banks. Banks, I can't wait for you to come here and coach one of our practices. I know you're gonna push us, I know you're gonna be hard on us, and I’m looking forward to meeting you -- making your wish come true," said Bryant in a recorded message.

And Kobe had some jokes, too!

"I know it can't be easy being a Lakers fan in Texas.”

In January, Coach Banks will travel to L.A. and hopefully lead the Lakers to victory against the Washington Wizards.

Hey, even the hosts of Sports Center got in on the action.

This sophomore is inspiring others to reach their goals. "You're reminding us that sometimes life can get hard, but if you can remember to hope for something and dream big, great things can happen," said a representative from the Make a Wish Foundation.”

So how does Banks feel about meeting Kobe?

"He inspires me in many ways, such as confidence and never giving up. I've been a Lakers fan since, like, day one," said Graham.

Now, he'll get his day to share some inspiration with the guys in purple and gold.
