DALLAS — Texas is now added to Chrysler’s regional recall list of cars and trucks made with  deadly Takata airbags.Takata Airbag Graphic

Takata airbags have shown evidence of exploding under hot and humid conditions, sending shrapnel into drivers and passengers.

At least five drivers have been killed by the exploding airbags and others severely hurt.

Under major pressure from federal regulators, Chrysler extended the recall Thursday from four high humidity areas to 12, including Texas where it definitely gets hot and humid.

The NHTSA has been pushing automakers to expand the recalls nationwide.
