KELLER -- It sounds like this tragic tale could have been a scene straight  from The Notebook -- an elderly couple found dead in their bed.

90-year-old Joe and his wife Georgianne Woolum had lived at the Whitley Place Center in Keller since 2013.

"The gentlemen usually gets up and has coffee in the morning. He didn't get up to have coffee," Capt. Brenda Slovak with Keller PD said.

That was enough to worry the staff.

“The worker went in and checked on him," Solvak explained. "So, that's when she found the male and female in bed with gunshot wounds."

The couple was lying side-by-side in bed. Joe had a gun in his hand.

“It appears that she has a small-caliber gunshot wound to the left temple, and at this point, we can't tell where his is."

Investigators are still piecing things together to find out what might've led to what looks like a murder/suicide.

“We have talked to the workers. There's no signs of domestic. We don`t think that's the case,” Slovak said.

Well, we're hoping this was an act of love -- two people who just didn't want to live without each other.

Maybe when they said, 'til death do us part, they really meant it.
