VALLEY RANCH -- When it comes to the Cowboys, there’s almost as much intrigue about what’s happening on the practice field as there is about what happens on game day.

So, who was in and who was out on Thursday? Well, first the good news: Surprise player of the year, Rolando McClain, was back after missing practice on Wednesday with a shoulder injury.

Rookie Demarcus Lawrence was out, and looking fierce as he gears up for his first game as a Cowboy this Sunday.

Rocking his new #56 jersey, Josh Brent was back for his first team reps since his DUI Manslaughter conviction.

The bad news? Tony Romo was nowhere to be seen. He’s day-to-day with his bum back, so Brandon Weeden is making the most of his reps.

“I gotta treat it like I’m going to play, but still there’s that uncertainty,” Weeden said. “But, there’s that uncertainty that I’m going to play every Sunday; I treat it like I’m going to play regardless.”

Romo is still expected to be a game time decision, so if you have him on your fantasy team, you might want to wake up early on Sunday!

Let’s hope “Backwatch 2014” turns out okay because the wait is turning Cowboys fans stomachs' into knots.
