DALLAS - Katy Trail in Dallas is popular pavement for jogging, biking, and walking your dog.

"You have shaded areas and you also have sunny areas. It's very well kept. The markers are really nice. You have water stops along the way," said Janette Draeger, who jogs the trail at least twice a week.

"It seems like you're not in the city when you are out here," Flo Monier said.

"You see police man on bicycles patrolling the area. Everyone out here is pretty nice. I feel it`s a very safe place to be. Whether your alone or with family," added Kelly Lambert.

Well, you may be shocked to hear, a man jumped out the bushed and attacked a woman Saturday night as she walked alone.

The woman was able to fight off her attacker, but he managed to get away with some of her belongings.

The man was described by police as a black male, 20 to 25 years old,  5'8" and weighing about 250 pounds.  He was wearing a black shirt with white letters, black shorts, and black shoes.

These joggers take precautions to keep safe.

"Absolutely," Draeger explains.  "We scream out commands when we are coming to the left or right to make our presence known . I run with a partner and we were just talking about it. We don`t wear earbuds.'

"I don`t really come whenever it`s dark, so I guess that would be the best precaution, but I always have my phone," Monier said.

Maybe avoiding the trail at night is the best option.

If you know anything about this attack, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 877-373-TIPS.
