DALLAS -- It’s perhaps one of the most iconic ballets to grace the stage – the Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker  is filled with artistry, beauty and grace.

Now, some young dancers are on-point to take the leap from their studio to center stage.

“You learn the choreography, the actual choreography from the Moscow Ballet and it’s really fun,” young dancer Elizabeth Emmick said.

Open auditions for the Moscow Ballet were held on Saturday. The company is looking for 60-skilled students to perform in its upcoming holiday production of the Nutcracker.

“It is a wonderful opportunity for these students to be able to dance with the Russian ballerinas," Gina Baker said. Baker owns the studio Dance and More. Some of her students auditioned for the ballet company.

"It’s a fabulous production and they get to be on stage and learn the choreography from the Moscow Ballet.”

“It’s something that will stay with them forever and it elevates the level of dance they do,” mother Lisa Emmick added.

The dancers showcased their talent and technique in front of the company’s audition director, in hopes of landing a spot in the show. For the beginning ballerinas, it’s an opportunity to turn their dreams into a dance of the sugar plum fairy.
