WEATHERFORD – Weatherford Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that left a middle-aged woman critically wounded.
The shooting happened Saturday night, when an officer showed up to a house located on the 1300 block of Foster St. He was responding to a welfare check. Investigators say the woman at the home was apparently threatening to commit suicide.
“When he arrived on the scene, he was met by a female with a weapon in her hand,”Lt. Chris Crawford with Weatherford Police explained.
Shots were fired and the woman was hit. She was taken to JPS hospital where she’s listed in critical condition. Officers haven’t disclosed the details surrounding this case. The names of the woman and the officer involved have not been released.
The only thing investigators can confirm: “We’re in the process of investigating the shooting and trying to determine more background on the call itself,” Crawford said.
The Texas Rangers are also investigating this case.
