FORT WORTH- Gunfire erupted in the early morning hours on Sunday, inciting panic and fear at the Valencia Palms Apartment Homes in Fort Worth.

Cops say 25-year-old Andre Abbit opened fire on a group of people who were gathered outside the complex on Elderville Road. Two people were hit; a man was shot in the leg and a woman was hit in her torso. She’s listed in critical condition at a local hospital. Cops say after the shooting, Abbit fled the scene.

He later returned to the complex, and witnesses pointed him out to cops. Abbit once again fled, but this time,  cops chased after him. After a 40-minute stand-off, Abbit eventually surrendered.

Cops say Abbit’s girlfriend was in that group of people at the complex. They’re not sure if she was an intended target—but cops did target him in this crime.

Abbit was cuffed and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
