FORT WORTH — Going out for a week-end drive?

All signs indicate one place to avoid.  It’s I-35W in far north Fort Worth.

mapCrews are tearing out the northbound bridge to U.S. Highway 287.

“It’s already been a huge pain with the construction.  All year, basically.  It seems like there’s always a wreck around this area,” driver Chelsee Greer said.

There *will* be detours, but TxDot says you could detour around the whole mess if you want to avoid massive delays.

“Going anywhere in and out this general area to get to any other place even downtown Fort Worth has been a hassle,” driver Steve Phillips said.

Tearing down the bridge will make room for more lanes. For this weekend, it might be a good time to stay in.
