Willow Park, TX–Call it a situation. The Heart 2 Heart Montessori Academy in Willow Park is under investigation by the state. The tale is in the tape, as they say. In this case, it’s duct tape that’s binding concern and anger among parents.
“If it was one of my kids, I don’t know, I’d probably be in prison behind that,” father Qualin Perry said.
The picture in question was reportedly snapped by a now-former daycare employee. It shows a child duct taped to his napping mat. The child apparently wasn’t hurt, but it seems the picture has damaged the daycare’s image.
“If it was my brother, I would’ve been outraged. I would have went in there and I would have said something, and he would’ve been pulled out immediately,” Willow Park resident Austin Williams said.
The daycare’s owners didn’t want to talk to NewsFix on camera, but they did release a statement.
Director/Owner Ashley Pena stated: “The staff and I have the best interest of the children and parents as our highest priority. The school has an exemplary performance history, and will work with childcare licensing authorities and cooperate fully with any investigation. We do not have any further comments at this time because we do not want to jeopardize the investigation or to break confidentiality.”
The State Department of Childcare Licensing shows in the past two years, Heart 2 Heart was inspected five times and cited only once. That citation involved a a worker who failed to update their FBI finger print. Now, this case is under review.
UPDATE: Parents of the two-year old have filed a $1 million lawsuit against the daycare.
