KELLER – Looks like charges of racism are having a domino effect in North Texas. First, Jo Lynn Haussmann, Keller ISD school board trustee posted “What a Shame!!!!” on her Facebook page in reference to a Muslim being elected to the Southlake City Council.

Haussmann finally spoke out about the incident Monday night.

“My comment didn’t mean a thing about being ashamed to being a Muslim,” said Haussman. “My comment was meaning that is was a shame because there wasn’t better voter turn-out.”

That doesn’t seem to coincide with what she posted; but there’s more.

“And I know that I’m not perfect and I know that I have a forgiving God and I know that I can go on and do an excellent job,” said Haussmann.

Turns out anti-Muslim comments are floating around in Addison too. Tom Hunse, a planning and zoning commission member of the town, put the following on his LinkedIn page about why he left his post at Eastern Illinois University:

“I resigned in September 2013 from board upon being made aware Eastern Illinois University (EIU) had named a Muslim to head the Lumpkin School of Business.”

Looks like Addison City Council members will have a lot to discuss at their next meeting.
